Express entry
candidates with provincial nominations were selected to apply for permanent
residency in federal Express Entry draw on May 27.
In the last Express
Entry draw Canada only invited candidates with provincial nomination.
In the May 27 draw,
a total of 385 ITAs (Invitation to Apply) were issued to express entry
candidates.
If someone is
nominated from any province in Canada, he is awarded an additional 600 points
on top of his original human capital score in federal express entry system.
Therefore, the minimum required CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) score was
757 in this draw. Without the additional 600 points from the provincial
nomination, invited candidates’ score would have been 157 only.
Since Coronavirus outbreak
and its measures put in place on March 18, this is the sixth PNP only draw by the
government of Canada. In stead of skilled workers, Canada has been targeting
PNP and Canada Experience Class (CEC) applicants.
The last draw in
which skilled worker candidates were invited was held on March 4, 2020. On this
draw total of 3900 candidates were invited. Total of 11 draws have been held since
and only PNP and CEC applicants were invited.
Some of the reasons
why skilled workers have not been selected since March 4, was due to
coronavirus outbreak and its measures put in place. When selected, candidates
may not have medical examinations and could not get police certificates on time
to comlete their applications as invited candidates received ITAs are expected
to complete their permanent residence applications within 60
Draw dates have
also become more unpredictable. Regularly draws happened every two weeks
covering federal skilled worker program (FSWP), federal skilled trades program
(FSTC) and CEC candidates. As Canadian immigration ministry’s (IRCC) is holding
targeted draws they may happen days apart.
As of today, a
total of 38,585 candidates have been invoted to apply for immigration visa in
2020.
Serving as Canada’s main
source of skilled foreign workers, the federal Express Entry system manages the
three economic immigration categories namely the Federal Skilled Worker Class
(FSWC), Federal Skilled Trade Class (FSTC) and Canada Experience Class (CEC).
Candidates who want to
immigrate to Canada are entered into the Express Entry pool where they are
ranked based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores.
CRS score is based on factors
including age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English
and French Language among others.
